Professor Lynne Boddy

Lynne has developed her passion for fungi and ecology, which began in her student days.  She has spent 38 years at Cardiff University exploring the complex relationship between trees and fungi, opening ‘The Black Box’ on the subject.  She is the author of more than 100 scientific papers and several key books on the subject.  She was awarded the MBE for her services to the subject, and in 2021, the Arboricultural Association Award for outstanding contribution.

Kevin Martin

10 years ago, climber Kevin applied to join the Tree Team at Kew Gardens.  He got the job and was soon team leader.  He became the youngest Tree Manager when, within 12 months of joining, this post was created.  In 2021, he became Head of Section.  Responsible for managing a resource of more than 15,000 trees, he shares regular about life at Kew Gardens.

Professor Ian Rotherham

Until recently Professor of Ecology at Sheffield Hallam University, Ian has a passion for heritage landscapes and ancient trees.  Now in a freelance roving role, he shares from his archives.

Dr. Glynn Percival

Dr. Glynn has a passion for tree health.  He has worked for Bartlett Tree Experts for more than 30 years.  He has supervised numerous PhD students and programmes of research.  He is currently exploring possible solutions to Ash Dieback.

Lucy Saunders

Lucy Saunders is the Trees and Woodlands Officer at the Lake District National Park.  She shares about her unique role in this special landscape.

Edward Heinrich

Edward has worked with trees all his life.  He answers your questions each month.

Mark Chester

Mark has worked with trees as an advisor and educator for the past 25 years.  His passion remains strong.  He identifies articles, stories and technical items to share each month.  He also leads The Tree Academy.
